Strategic People Partner/HR Business Partner at UWE, Bristol

Job Description

About the opportunity: We have an exciting opportunity to join our newly re-imagined People & Organisational Development (OD) service as a Strategic People Partner (formerly called HR Business Partner). Working within the ‘Talent Team’ as a strategic partner to Senior Managers within Colleges and Services within the University, the role involves supporting the development and retention of talent via workforce planning to meet our organisational needs and our 2030 People Strategy.

The role will work collaboratively within a team of Strategic People Partners, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition and Reward to ensure there is alignment between workforce plans and these areas. The role also requires extensive relationship management, working with key stakeholders across the University to develop and implement workforce plans.

This newly formed team signals our refined focus as a People function on driving and developing strategic workforce plans that provide the talent, skills, resource, and diversity required to ensure the success of the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape this approach at a transitional time for the service, influencing and engaging with key stakeholders within People & OD and across the organisation.

This is a full-time, permanent post working 37 hours per week. However compressed hours or a minimum of a 30-hour week can be considered. This post is not available on a job share.

About you: This is a strategic people role requiring you to have expertise in the development and implementation of workforce planning and talent management initiatives. You will need a breadth and depth of human resources experience across all key HR activities and be able to collaborate effectively to deliver innovative solutions to organisational challenges.

You will have an organised and strategic mindset with the ability to interpret and utilise data for organisational insights. You should have experience of leading and managing projects from conception to completion and the ability to self-manage and measure your progress against project objectives and deliverables. You will also need a high level of relationship management skills, particularly influencing, coaching and the ability to engage, build trust and seek buy-in from key stakeholders at all levels in the University.

You will need to work collaboratively with an inclusive approach and demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the value of inclusivity and diversity in the workforce. The role will require you to innovate and find creative and effective talent solutions to support the workforce needs of the University.

This role is best suited to colleagues with generalist HR knowledge and/or colleagues who have worked in a ‘partnering’ HR role, who have a strategic mindset and are motivated by working with the business to drive and deliver people solutions.
