The Role and Company

My client, a well-established professional services organisation, is looking for a passionate 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join their small but growing in-house IT Team.

The role will be based just north of Oxford with very occasional travel to other offices in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Work to provide 2nd line response to escalations from 1st line
  • Effective ticket queue management through self-motivation
  • Be a valuable member of the support team handling incoming calls, email, and deskside support
  • To be an effective point of contact for Internal IT, resolving issues, escalating internally, or referring to 3rd parties as appropriate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communication needed for this support position
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, printers, and scanners
  • Liaise with senior IT team members to escalate any issues or reoccurring problems or concerns within the IT areas
  • Identify areas where improvements can be made in the IT service.
  • Take responsibility for assigned tasks within projects and deliver them to time, cost and quality.
  • Maintaining a high standard of Cyber Security awareness and have a safety-first mindset.

Skills and Experience required

  • Previous IT support experience, ideally 2nd line level but strong 1st / 2nd line experience is considered
  • Good team player with flexible approach to working environment
  • Experience of Supporting Microsoft Windows Desktops and Laptops and ideally Citrix Desktops =
  • Supporting Microsoft (Office) 365 including Email, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint
  • Good working knowledge of Multi-Factor Authentication
  • Good working knowledge of general network patching and Wi-Fi
  • Good working knowledge of Active Directory
  • General understanding of Windows Server Environments
  • Methodical troubleshooting with the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Willingness to undertake study and be self-motivated
  • Excellent documentation skills with an eye for details and accuracy: user guides and processes
  • Exceptional communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent organisational skills
