Post Graduate Commercial Research Coordinator and Assistant at Oxford Brookes University

We are searching for a Commercial Research Coordinator and Assistant to lead and contribute to the commercial research and consultancy activities of the Centre for Nutrition and Health. You will play a key role in supervising and completing contract research studies, and will support the business strategy to include maintaining stakeholder relations.  You will plan and manage research contracts, develop costing models, assist with funding applications, and contribute to the ethics approval process. You will carry out testing on food products and in human participants involving blood sampling. 

You will be responsible for task allocation and progress monitoring against defined research and financial targets as defined by the Director and lead researchers. You will prepare brief reports to the Steering Group and play a role in facilitating synergies between the commercial consultancy, applied research, and education activities within the Centre for Nutrition and Health.

Skills and Experience

• Good honours degree or MSc in Nutrition, Food Science or a related subject (PhD desirable)
• Substantial supervisory experience in a commercial or applied research environment to include coordination of project operations and personnel
• Research and project management
• Experience of communicating with the public and managing stakeholder relations
• Understanding strategic management decision making within a commercial research organisation
• Experience of data collection and analysis
• Possesses sufficient depth of knowledge to work proactively and effectively as part of research team
• Accuracy and attention to detail in research management, quality assurance, and reporting
• Good organisational and time management skills with ability to work independently and take initiative
• Established IT skills
• Willingness to work flexibly including unsocial hours
• Knowledge and experience of preparing funding applications and ethics applications for applied and commercial research projects
• Experience or knowledge of human participant studies
• Registered with the AfN or similar professional body
