Head of Adult Social Care Operations (Community)

Job Description

Job title: Head of Adult Social Care Operations (Community)

Company: Kirklees Council

Job description: Kirklees is firmly focused on the future. Our vision is to create a district where residents enjoy a great quality of life, where communities are cohesive with high levels of economic prosperity and low levels of inequality.

Our Adults services play a crucial role in supporting people to remain healthy and independent, whether that be through the provision of information and advice, access to prevention services, or more intensive support for those with long-term or complex needs. This means that our working relationships with partners, people who have care and support needs, and unpaid carers, are based firmly on co-production and ensuring the people we support are at the heart of all we do. Within our Adults and Health Directorate, we are determined to deliver long-term change with pace, determination and focus. Improving outcomes for adults is our number one priority, and we have a rigorous and robust implementation plan to achieve this.

Due to planned retirement of the two current post holders, we are looking for two innovative and knowledgeable senior professionals to join our leadership team, with significant experience of working across heath and social care operations.

As the new Head of Social Care Operations (Community), you will have strategic responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high quality social work practice across Kirklees and oversee the continuous quality assurance of frontline social work. You will have overall responsibility for our Community Social Work teams and will drive our ambition to support people in a strength-based way, ensuring statutory requirements are met using a rights based approach. You will provide innovative leadership to drive continuous improvement and transformation of service delivery, focussing on prevention, demand management and improved outcomes.

Responsible for developing connections with local communities and third sector organisations, you will collaborate around meeting the needs of the local population, working in partnership with internal and external partners. You will work closely with the people we support to help shape the future of our services and will have the skills to turn strategic ambition into action.

In addition, Kirklees has a number of specialist teams which will be aligned to the most appropriate Head of Service. In line with our commitment to co-production, we would like the successful candidates to input into the wider portfolio responsibilities.

You will have excellent leadership and operational management skills, the ability to understand and influence partners and an ability to work with and inspire confidence in a political environment. A strong collaborator and innovator, you will inspire and influence the continued development of care and support, working across the Council and with our partners and communities, to enable residents in Kirklees to live well and independently. You will be an integral part of further developing and implementing our vision for Adult Social Care and above all you’ll promote the human rights of the people we are here to serve.

Qualified to degree level with a relevant professional qualification, with substantial leadership experience in an appropriate sector providing breadth and depth. you will be experienced in leading, managing and integrating a wide range of diverse, dynamic, and complex services.
