Job description: Role Summary

The role will be a site-based role, with critical responsibility for the management and success of the project, including health and safety, quality, environmental, short-term programmes and the cost/value of operations. The successful candidate will report to the site-based Project Manager and will have line manager responsibility to both members of the Tilbury Douglas team and the supply chain.

What you will be doing

The principle tasks of the Site Manager may include:

Providing leadership, and energy;

Controlling prelims, and project budgets;

Ensuring the construction works run to strict programme;

Managing pre-construction activities;

Maintaining strict quality control procedures;

Procurement and management of the supply chain;

Management of change – client/Company/supply chain;

Lead regular site meetings with all interested parties;

Conducting regular site safety checks;

Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems;

Maintaining effective long term relationships with the customer and their representatives/advisors;

Ensuring the project team comply with the Companies Business Management System;

Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems;

Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials etc. in order to maximise commercial profitability;

Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement;

Providing aftercare services to the customer;

Implementing and maintaining the Company’s Policies for Sustainability, Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental, Training and Development etc. and acting as an exemplar of the Company culture and values;

Coaching and motivating subordinates;

To support and be familiar with own role and responsibility in respect of Business Continuity Planning. Ensuring that team members are also aware of the plans and communicates same;

Any other duties relevant to the role.

What we will need from you

Detailed knowledge of building regulations;

Experience of project planning;

Experience of a similar role working for a main contractor (essential);

Professional qualification (desirable);

CITB level 3 Safety Course;

CSCS Card – Appropriate level;

Experienced and competent in using Asta Power Project. (desirable).

Technical knowledge and experience;

Commercial and financial awareness;

Excellent interpersonal skills;

Understanding of different contracts e.g. NEC, JCT.
