THALES are looking to recruit a motivated and passionate Site Support Engineer to work within the Energy portfolio team supporting the computer based data processing and control systems at our customers site at Heysham Power Station.
Location: Heysham Power Station / Office in Halton

What will you deliver?
Working within the Energy portfolio team supporting the computer based data processing and control systems, with a focus on the North West based power generation facilities.
The role will require close working with specialist sub-contractors to ensure compliance with Thales’s business management system for quality assurance.
The role will require close working with the customer at the technical level and will be varied, ranging from maintenance type activities, fault finding to module level and to component level and will entail working off-site at customer locations.
This role will report directly to the team lead and include interaction with the customer and suppliers.
Who are we looking for?
Knowledge and understanding of analogue/digital electronics
- Knowledge and understanding of serial and network communications
- Electronic equipment fault investigation, diagnosis and rectification, including use of schematics.
- Generation of hardware test documentation including test plans, procedures and reports.
- Supervision and execution of tests in accordance with test plans and procedures
- Ability to work independently and remotely at customer sites
- Design of cable harnesses and test boxes to support fault investigations and system testing
- PC skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the client
- Current Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- Previous experience of working in a Rail, Aviation, Metro, Power Generation or other regulated industrial environment.
- Previous experience of working on BBL UCS 3600 based systems
- Practical soldering skills to support manufacture of cable harnesses and test boxes
- Prior experience with rack mounted equipment and cubicle builds.
- Experience of implementing the BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations
