Heathrow is one of the largest commercial landlords in the UK: leasing out millions of sq ft of office, operational and passenger facing space to over 200 tenants across 600 leases – generating annual revenues in excess of £140m. As part of that we operate our own Commercial Telecomms business – selling products and services to tenants and concessionaries (B2B), hosting Mobile Network Operators to provide cellular coverage and highspeed Wi-Fi to improve passenger connectivity (B2C).
This role would be perfect for an ambitious person that wants to grow and demonstrate their commercial capability by managing a £10m+ revenue commercial telecommunications portfolio. There are exciting opportunities to grow new products (through the commercialisation of 5G technology) and negotiating and implementing new contracts (with our B2B commercialisation partner and WiFi provider), as well as managing a small team.
Responsibilities:
- Taking ownership of the Commercial Telecomms function, with revenues of
£10m per annum. Becoming a Senior Leader in a team seeking to improve EBITDA performance by £10m per annum by 2026 – including opportunities to commercialise new 5G technology and work closely with our B2B Commercialisation partner. * Owning the strategic thinking to deliver the new contract for Heathrow’s B2B Telecom Commercialisation Partner – including developing our approach to value and supporting procurement colleagues with the negotiation. Building an excellent working relationship with that chosen partner, which drives value, while ensuring all contracted responsibilities have been carried out.
- Delivering the strategic plan that will enhance the commercialisation of 5G technology, including how we can streamline relationships with B2C telecoms providers as a consequence.
- Managing and developing the Commercial Telecomms Manager, unleashing their full potential as a commercial telecoms subject matter expert.
- Being responsible for delivering an extension to our WiFi contract, working closely with our digital team to ensure the service needs of passengers are consistently met through regular performance reviews and account management with our WiFi provider. Whilst ensuring contract compliance, including full contractual income entitlement is gathered, health and safety and other contracted responsibilities are carried out.
Qualifications:
- Ability to identify and develop products and services that meet customer’s needs and drive revenues, is critical to the success of the role.
- Demonstrable experience of contract and stakeholder management.
- Enjoys working in an autonomous role with the determination to deliver tangible results.
- Adept at developing and delivering business plans whilst meeting budgetary targets.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Knowledge of cellular, fixed and wireless networking telephony and applicable regulations.
- Line Management experience.
- Knowledge of Heathrow’s capital governance model and/or technology processes.
- Knowledge of Heathrow’s operating model, Capital Process and Other Regulated Charges.

Working Location
Our agile approach offers the opportunity to combine home working with meetings, events and training at the airport. All roles involve some on-site working each week, so you’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
