If so then we have a fantastic opportunity for you to broaden your knowledge as an Expenses Analyst and Tax Assistant working within our well established Tax team on a 12 month FTC basis. Please note this role is available on 4 day per week basis.

This varied opportunity for an Expenses Analyst & Tax Assistant requires an individual to monitor and report non-compliance of the Company expenses policy through manual checks of submitted claims on the Assure expenses (Allocate) and Click Travel systems You will be required to communicate to employees and their line managers where issues are found. Separately you will assist with analysis to support the preparation of the corporation tax computations.

As Expenses Analyst & Tax Assistant, you will report into our Group Taxation Manager in an office flexible role, on a 4 day per week basis. The Opportunity – Expenses Analyst & Tax Assistant Role;

Your role and responsibilities will be challenging and varied, including the following: –

  • To review approved expense claims and highlight where claims are:
  • Out of policy
  • Have inadequate receipts
  • Don’t have appropriate narrative
  • Aren’t appropriately categorised
  • Check the VAT amount and classification on the claims are correct
  • Review of claims will be done, at a minimum every accounting period, by expenses type, highest spend plus random checks.
  • Review all mileage claims for correct pence per mile, fuel receipts attached and for journey clarity
  • Provide quarterly reporting with the Group Tax Manager on the findings for review by the Chief Financial Officer
  • Prepare a bi-annual update paper with the Group Tax Manager for the Executive Committee on the expense checking process
  • Notify claimants and line managers where basic errors are found and suggest how to prepare future claims correctly
  • Identify more serious issues and repeat offenders and escalate these issues to the Reward & Policy Manager
  • Complete a period dashboard summarising the expense data and the checks undertaken
  • Provide a period report to Financial Accounts of the expenses incurred in M&B business
  • Communicate to Tax Managers issues with claims, where amendments to PSA and VAT returns are required
  • Work under the supervision of the Tax Manager (VAT & CT) to prepare supporting schedules and analysis for inclusion in corporation tax computations and returns
  • Complete other adhoc tasks relating to expenses or other tax matters for the Taxation Department.
