How you will create an impact

To be part of the UK Package and Commercial Combined management team and play an integral part in positioning AIG as a leader in this segment. The role will lead underwriting governance and technical standards for UK Package and Commercial Combined business and will be responsible for ensuring policy wordings and underwriting guides are in compliance with AIG’s global policy wording standards and matches our underwriting intent.

  • Work directly with Underwriters, Claims and Legal to draft and finalize acceptable policy wordings, endorsements and underwriting guide content.
  • Lead and oversee the underwriting control framework including delegation of authority, underwriter peer reviews and Broker/MGA audits.
  • Define and uphold technical underwriting standards within the department and also with our delegated authority scheme partners and MGA’s.
  • Act as a referral point for large / complex underwriting referrals, large losses and voidance decisions.
  • Develop an underwriting excellence training programme and provide coaching support to all underwriters.
  • Comply with key regulatory, conduct and risk management requirements and responsibilities including adherence to the UK Third Party Management Framework & Global Portfolio Solutions Framework.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Technical underwriting experience in both Property and Casualty commercial insurance essential.
  • Experienced in policy wording development and sign off.
  • Experienced in developing department underwriting governance and controls.
  • Experienced in writing underwriter training material and underwriting guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required.
  • ACII or progression towards preferred.
  • Ability to work across multiple work streams at any one time, prioritise work and respond promptly in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team to deliver key projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Power point.
  • Problem Solving – identify problems and solutions matched to the appropriate solutions.
  • Attention to Detail – demonstrate attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
