Energy Transition
AXA XL are committed to a carbon net zero future. Whilst the Energy Transition (ET) segment is still in its infancy, and the classification / taxonomy is still evolving, our ET team will support alternative fuel, carbon capture and renewable energy operations that contribute towards carbon net zero targets.
You will have the support of highly qualified & experienced risk engineers to keep abreast of the latest developments in technology, and actuaries to help you quantify and price these risks. You will also be working alongside an established team of power underwriters.
Construction Practice
The AXA XL UK & Lloyd’s Construction and Engineering team provides Construction/Erection All Risks (and associated covers) for a diverse portfolio of clients on a Worldwide basis.
Our clients include Coverholders, Contractors, Utilities, Developers and Engineering companies. We work with all the main broking houses in London and have a very strong pipeline of new business opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team to build-out our onshore renewable energy portfolio across Construction All Risks/Erection All Risks/ Delay in Start Up and first year operations.
The candidate will have renewable energy underwriting experience, and an extensive knowledge of the market and relevant technologies.
As Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for delivering a profitable Underwriting service to your clients. Your key tasks include: underwriting business within the agreed business plan and individual authority; building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients and supporting the design and structure of risks.
This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

Each risk we consider is unique, which means our clients and Brokers should enjoy a market-leading experience of working with us.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
· Reviewing submissions including policy wordings, inspection reports and loss runs, while conducting appropriate analysis and research to determine the degree of risk for each account.
· Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the sector, reinsurance cessions as well as the Underwriting and general administration costs while ensuring profitability.
· Proactively advising, assisting, servicing and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
· Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention.
· Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.
· Reviewing loss control reports and managing policy endorsement requests to process any necessary changes to the policy.
· Supporting the business planning and forecasting process; monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits; monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
· Maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Required Skills and Abilities:
· Proven experience of underwriting profitable onshore renewable energy projects and annuals. Binder and lineslip experience is preferred but not essential.
· Good industry knowledge and awareness of factors affecting this market.
· Established network in the renewable energy sector including brokers and clients.
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Demonstrable analytical, negotiation and sales skills.
· Experience of using pricing tools and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
· Working knowledge of broker manuscript and industry standard Construction All Risks/Erection All Risks wordings in the onshore renewable energy sector.
· Understanding of linesize and portfolio management.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
· An Engineering/renewables industry background or a qualification to degree level in a relevant technical discipline.
· Working towards Cert Cii or higher
