2023 has been a great year for Hewett Academy with record breaking GCSE results, 4 pieces of artwork in the Royal Academy, a complete school rebuilding project on the horizon and now an Ofsted grading of “Good with Outstanding features”! With this success has come an increase in pupil numbers that means we now have an exciting opportunity for an inspiring Head of Maths to lead our committed and hardworking Maths team at Hewett Academy.

Hewett’s Maths department has gone from strength to strength in the last three years with results getting better each year and an increasingly positive progress score. The team is hard working, committed and dynamic – and now need a new Head of Department following the promotion of the existing post holder.

This role will have 80% of time working in Hewett’s Maths department and 20% in the Trust central team with responsibilities working within the East Maths Community.

Hewett Academy is one of the most iconic schools in Norwich. The school was graded as rated “Good with Outstanding features” following an exemplary Ofsted inspection in October 2023. The school has built strong relationships within the community and takes pride in being a highly inclusive school in which children from all backgrounds work alongside the most diverse student population in Norwich. Students demonstrate respect for each other and their teachers through calm and purposeful attitudes around school and in lessons. Inspiration Trust is at an exciting point in its Maths development. Alongside the University of East Anglia, we have been awarded a significant grant to establish a Maths Excellence programme across schools in Norfolk. A successful candidate will work for the equivalent of 1 day per week, alongside our renowned strong and cohesive central maths team to create and develop inspiring Maths Clubs modules and to work on our established Further Maths Outreach programme. The role ideal for a gifted mathematician and ambitious maths teacher wanting to develop new inspirational ideas to challenge and inspire young people from KS3 through KS4 into KS5 and beyond. We have one of the country’s first maths and science specialist sixth forms and the Angles Maths Hub is based in our trust.
