Senior Air Freight Specialist – London Heathrow
About the Role
DP World are currently recruiting for a Senior Air Freight Specialist to join our new site based in London Heathrow. This position is responsible for the Operational Execution of our Freight Forwarding Operations in branch. It ensures Customer Satisfaction and Operational Excellence (Cost, Process Quality, Productivity), as well as the achievement of optimum profitability Gross Margin – in line with the local Budget.
Furthermore, it ensures local sales growth, critical account retention, and team development.
How you will contribute
Customer Satisfaction & Operational Excellence
- Responsible for execution of standard operational processes (Customer Service, Transactional Operations).
- Communicate with concerned parties for the improvement of the process interfaces.
- Escalation contact in case of issues/problems and ensure corrective / preventive actions.
Business Development
- Coordinate implementation of new business with sales
- Ensure local sales development
- Retain and develop branch accounts
Management
- People and team-management (staffing, development, discipline, etc.) for local teams, in accordance/coordination with Product managers/Sales Manager and HR.
- Ensure proper interface between sales and operations.
- Responsible for the business plan and budget elaboration (profit & loss responsibility on Branch level).
- Ensure alignment with Product Managers, Sales Manager and Finance.
- Responsible for adherence of QMS and all other standards.
- Adherence to Security/Safety Guidelines and external regulations.
- Reporting and Statistics (Volumes, KPI’s).
What you will bring
- 7 plus years working within the Freight Forwarding Industry with a strong focus on Operational Management and Service Excellence.
- Strong experience in management with P&L responsibility.
- Successful management of all key stakeholder relationships including shareholders and external government agencies.
- Advanced knowledge of logistics process and security procedures and protocols.
- Strong negotiator and a self-starter with the ability to adapt to stressful environments by using a sociable but firm approach, as well as engendering trust and integrity.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, develop and encourage others to positively contribute to business goals and objectives.
- High level of analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to client service excellence with the ability to build solid relationships.
Employment is subject to the below:
- Ability to provide and obtain five years’ full employment history and satisfactory references
- Subject to a DBS check (I would avoid stating no non-spent criminal convictions as it will be dependent on reporting any convictions to the CAA and their decision thereafter)

- Working within a regulated environment, subject to Aviation legislation
