Serco have an exciting opportunity to join their team as Aviation Instructor at the IFTC in Darlington. You will be part of the offshore/ industrial area.
You’ll be helping enable others to learn fire fighting and fire fighter leadership techniques through presentations, demonstration and instruction. Additionally, you will be required to assess the performance of candidates using a range of methods.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Carry out any allocated tasks in accordance with QMS procedures or accepted best practice.
  • Manage the delivery of sector specific training programmes in accordance with QMS procedures (e.g. Offshore, Industrial, Marine)
  • Manage non sector specific training programmes in accordance with QMS procedures (e.g. Breathing Apparatus Instructor, Train the Trainer, First Aid)
  • Support the delivery of aviation training programmes in accordance with QMS procedures.
  • Assess students performance against recognised standards using a range of methods in accordance with QMS procedures
  • Take responsibility for personal development in order to broaden the type and range of courses that can be delivered by the individual
  • Design and develop training programmes in response to business and client needs
  • Carry out course update work for courses to maintain compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Provide students/sponsors with follow up reports and action plans in the agreed format
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with recognised procedures
  • Apply innovation and creativity to the methods of delivery to enhance the learning experience for students
  • Take a participatory role in development opportunities in all areas of the business
  • Represent IFTC at industry conferences, meetings and marketing events as required by the line manager

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • Supervisory Fire Service qualification
  • Minimum L3 teaching qualification
  • A1 (TAQA) assessing qualification or equivalent
  • Strong communicator
  • Confident in groups
  • High literacy
  • Adaptable
