Salary: Grade 3, £12,103 – £12,509 per annum. £11.78 – £12.18 per hour

23 hours per week, term time plus 1 week working 39 weeks per year

Temporary due to SEN funding

The Governors and Headteacher are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, supportive One-to-One Support Assistant (23 hours) to work closely with a pupil who requires additional academic support and on occasions displays challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

As a One-to-One Support Assistant, you will:

1. Provide Individualised Support: Offer personalised assistance to a specific pupil with additional academic requirements, ensuring their unique needs are met.

2. Behavioural Support: Employ effective strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

3. Academic Assistance: Collaborate with teachers to implement tailored academic support plans, addressing the pupil’s specific learning requirements.

4. Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and document the pupil’s academic progress and behavioural development, providing feedback to the teaching staff and parents.

5. Communication: Maintain open and clear communication channels with teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the pupil’s care and education.

6. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and other support staff to implement interventions and support strategies effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.

2. Understanding of strategies for managing challenging behaviour and promoting positive reinforcement.

3. Knowledge of academic support techniques and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are desirable.
