We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join in the role of Agriculture Relationship Director.
The role provides a dedicated relationship management to a portfolio of agricultural and associated customers, both domestic and international relationships with accountability for sales, service, risk and operational delivery. The Agriculture Relationship Director role will identify customer needs with the aim to recommend appropriate solutions for the customer.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Build a strong external professional network to enable you to attract new customers to HSBC UK.
- Develop a business growth strategy, identifying the most promising prospects and opportunities to expand your portfolio and broaden client relationships
- Engage with clients and prospects as a strategic partner, building trust and more fully developed and mutually beneficial relationships
- Build commercial credibility with clients and leverage a strong internal network to deliver appropriate, needs-based solutions
- Protect the bank’s reputation and ensure an acceptable risk profile whilst deepening your understanding of the client through credit & customer due diligence reviews and wider Agricultural policies and changes in the marketplace.
- Embrace HSBC’s values of being open, dependable and connected when dealing with clients, prospects and colleagues and always strive to deliver fair outcomes for our clients.
- Deepen understanding of the client through pro-active credit risk assessments and customer due diligence reviews
- Confidently manage financial crime risk throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, accepting, monitoring, escalating and mitigating risk.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Previous experience working in a client facing/relationship management role, preferably in a commercial financial environment is essential.
- Understanding of Business types and structures together with product/facility knowledge relevant to segment and the wider Agricultural sector.
- A robust understanding of Risk Management, to include, Credit Analysis, Financial Crime Risk, Reputational and Operational Risk. Lending experience is essential.
- Good level of business acumen and local and international commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural, and regulatory issues so being an active, visible and proactive ambassador for HSBC in the local agricultural community.
- Proven ability in identifying and meeting customer needs through matching a broad range of products and internal services and delivering excellent customer service in order to seek new opportunities and nurture existing relationships to encourage growth.
- Self-driven with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and work collaboratively to deliver to deadlines with excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – and an ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
This role could be based in the South of England from East Anglia to the South East. It will require regular travel around your designated area for client meetings. You will also be required to travel across the Region for internal meetings. We are open to considering hybrid working arrangements, however we do not anticipate this being a role that can be home based.
