You don’t need to currently be working as a technical accountant – just have a curiosity and an interest to learn the details. You’ll provide high quality accounting advice, engage with our auditor, and communicate the key accounting messages to colleagues across the Group. If you’re a detail orientated individual who likes to understand ‘why’, then this role could be for you.We support Group Corporate Treasury, Commercial Banking, Citra Living, and a range of Lloyds Banking Group investments. You’ll support these divisions with key transactions as well as other ad-hoc issues, allowing you to gain a good understanding of the issues and drivers of these business areas.You’ll also develop your technical accounting knowledge and advisory skills, receiving support and coaching from experienced colleagues within External Reporting and Accounting Policy.Our small team (3 people) works closely together to deliver accounting advice and engage with the Group auditor. Supporting technical learning and personal development is important to us. We encourage discussion and challenge in order to get to the best outcomes for LBG.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support transactions and business developments (including securitisations, debt restructures, capital issuance, derivatives) and advise on the application of IFRS. We research relevant accounting topics and produce clear written analysis.
  • Engage with our external auditor on technical accounting matters
  • Act as a trusted partner on accounting matters, we collaborate with numerous colleagues across our group.
  • Empower colleagues to deliver LBG’s objectives by providing accountancy training on new and existing accounting standards in a commercial context
  • Maintain policy documents and assess the impact of any new accounting rules

Essential:

  • You’ll have achieved a professional qualification: ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent and have the intellectual curiosity and ability to grasp concepts quickly.
  • You’ll be comfortable taking ownership for tasks as you seek to understand, research and develop accounting solutions, and we’ll give you the support you need along the way.
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate your interest in technical topics and concepts so far in your career (need not be IFRS).
  • Strong written and verbal communication is paramount. Our key outputs are written pieces of accounting advice.
  • You’ll also be comfortable forming effective working relationships and be friendly and approachable as you collaborate with others.
  • The ideal person will be happy working as part of a small team, where the work we do is varied and can fluctuate based on the activity of the business.

Desirable:

  • We don’t require previous accounting policy experience, however, knowledge of IFRS 9, 10, IAS 32 and other standards will be an advantage. Whatever the level of experience, on joining our team we’ll train, mentor and support you to develop the skills to succeed!
