Your core responsibilities will be:

  • Provide assurance and advice to the STN Operations Director regarding the H&S performance of the airport.
  • Setting & driving the development and implementation of STNs H&S strategy, policy & procedures, meeting the requirements of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System
  • Leadership, guidance and direction in H&S best practice to senior management teams including Legal Compliance.
  • Manage the STN Risk Governance process to report and challenge H&S performance. Identify risk, resolve and continually driving improvement in H&S management.
  • Develop, maintain and ensure delivery of a Health & Safety Risk Register in line with the risk management system
  • Design and implement training material to raise H&S awareness among all staff, and improve management understanding of H&S responsibilities
  • Develop a proactive, visible and engaged H&S team that meets the needs of the business in achieving operational H&S excellence
  • Engage external stakeholders and regulators to optimise the H&S performance and enhance the reputation of STN e.g. Health and Safety Executive and IOSH Aviation Group
  • Work with the HR Department to shape the strategy around the provision of Occupational Health
  • Manage the STN Health & Safety Department Budget completing budget planning and review meetings with Finance
  • To participate in projects and working parties and to carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit for the purpose of personal development, or as may be reasonably required by the Company

What will make you successful in the role?In order to be successful, you will possess:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in health & safety at a senior level within a large organisation and a proven track record in the delivery of business objectives and health & safety management systems.
  • Hold a recognised health & safety qualification at diploma level such as NEBOSH diploma (Level 6) and be at least a Grad Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), or other relevant institution.
  • Continual Professional Development in H&S should be demonstrated working towards IOSH Chartered Member or other relevant institution
  • Accident investigator training
  • Auditor training
  • Experience of being a key decision-maker
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and corrective / preventative action techniques
  • Computer literate
