Health & Safety Advisor – Ionising Radiation at University of Nottingham

Job Description

The Health & Safety (H&S) Department provide strategic and operational support to the University on all H&S issues. 

We are looking for and experienced Health & Safety Advisor to provide competent, practical, pragmatic health and safety advice and support to an organisation with a diverse range of hazards.

This role will have a specific focus on Ionising Radiation Safety. The H&S Advisor – Ionising Radiation will help coordinate, implement, monitor, and review all Unviersity work with ionising radiation across the UK Campuses. In addition, the H&S Advisor will work with the Faculty of Science to implement the University’s H&S Strategy.

Previous experience with working with Ionising Radiation and / or Chemical Safety is desired – ideally across a range of topics including science, engineering, medical, research, open-source, sealed source, and X-ray generators.

The candidate will develop and implement robust health & safety policy and processes, drive high standards of performance, and embed monitoring and reporting mechanisms aligned to the principles of Plan, Do, Check, Act. Advisors support the development and implementation of university-wide safety strategy and policy. 

Candidates should hold relevant and broad ranging H&S certificates commensurate with the role and possess or be working towards NEBOSH Health & Safety Diploma qualification. Experience of health and safety management in a higher education, research, or other large and complex organisation is desirable.

This is a permanent, full-time role (36.25 hours per week) across 5 days (Monday to Friday). Job share arrangements may be considered.
