Contract Type: Part Time/ Fixed Term until 30th January 2025
Location: Ty’r FesenWe pay an attractive salary of £22,850 – £24,882 and offer access to training and development opportunities.Caerphilly County Borough Council have an opportunity for Housing Support Worker on a Fixed Term Contract basis to cover Maternity Leave until 30th January 2025. As part of this critical service, the successful applicant will support the team to continuously promote and maintain the highest possible customer satisfaction levels in respect of services provided.The duties and responsibilities of this varied, interesting and key role are:To assist with the day-to-day running of Ty’r Fesen, security of the building and the safety of the residents and colleagues.
To assist during and outside of normal office hours, with the placement of homeless persons into appropriate interim and temporary accommodation.
To assess the needs of residents in order to provide appropriate support that will enable them to live independently when housed in temporary or permanent accommodation.
To work with residents to create budgeting plans for income maximization and debt reduction.
Support families to arrange educational continuity through transportation, school meals, school transfers and uniforms. Support residents with access to crisis interventions such as food banks and assist with applications for grants and similar crisis funds. Assist residents to access training and work-based qualifications.The role is part time at 32 hours a week working 16 eight-hour shifts over a 4-weekly rota. Allocated shifts are from 6am until 2pm and from 2pm until 10pm, spread over 7 days of the week including weekends and Bank Holidays.The successful applicant will liaise with various statutory and voluntary agencies such as, the Housing Advice Centre, Housing Benefit Department, the DWP, external support providers, area Housing Teams, Local Housing Associations, Police and Probation.The right person for this role will be proactive and be able to work effectively in a stressful environment and possess a positive attitude towards assisting people with support needs and must have empathy and sympathy traits.For the role, we ask that you have:
- 5 GCSEs Grades A*-C or equivalent. Or Relevant Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework
- Understanding of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 and the legislation in respect of homelessness.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including working on a rota system which will include weekends and bank holidays.
