The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an Automotive Application Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Developing new opportunities/applications at Automotive OEMs and tiers.
Solution development, spec in and process development, from early stage to SOP. Applications will be directly linked with Exterior Trim assemblies and Automotive Electrification
Engagement with OEM and relevant Tiers, from R&D to Process engineering, going through Engineering and Quality, enabling 3M value proposition through subject matter expert role.
Expert training and demonstration to OEM and Tiers on 3M solutions, supporting our value proposition, enabling projects launch from spec in to launch. Participation onto Technical Days, Congress, Webinars…
Capability to capture insights and customers voice to create value propositions to existing solutions and direct new class 4 and class 5 product developments by the divisional labs. Testing of products/solutions to ensure they meet those customer requirements with a strong value proposition.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Automotive (preferred) Industry professional that has know-how about engineering and industrialization. Awareness about quality processes and project management.
Experiences at OEM/Tiers engineering and manufacturing. Capability to demonstrate theoretical and practical skills during customer visits.
Engineering Degree preferable in material science
Current, Valid Driver’s license is required, as you will be issued a company vehicle for this position
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Knowledge and practical abilities to utilize the following technologies: Adhesives, Joint design, assemblies, and mechanics.
Knowledge and practical abilities in polymer science and physics associated.
Knowledge and use of e-media tools and presentation skills.
Ability to work onto global teams, multidisciplinary and multi-technology
Travel: 30% expected within UK and occasional overseas within EMEA
Ideal candidate location: UK
Work location: Hybrid Eligible 2-3 days per week in the office/lab (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to local site)
