As the go-to expert you will be the manager of the Manufacturing Engineering Paint team, you will develop and implement the manufacturing paint strategy required to deliver new product content into manufacturing whilst leading the Advanced and Current Manufacturing Engineering team in Gaydon.

The successful candidate will work closely with Facilities, Production, external suppliers, and the wider Manufacturing Engineering group to ensure that projects are fully defined, resourced, and tracked through to completion.

THE ROLE:

  • Management of the manufacturing engineering paint team
  • Your team are responsible for the production of detailed process operation sheets, including visual aids, paint application, preparation and polishing detail including essential quality requirements
  • Utilise PFMEA to create and maintain a control plan for processes, facilities, and equipment critical to successful paint application. Employ SPC techniques and drive improvements by reducing process variability
  • Liaise with Facilities and Production to determine efficient station layouts
  • Liaise with external suppliers of equipment and compile necessary documents for implementation and approval
  • Work with Industrial Engineers to identify opportunities to remove waste in the paint process. Understand and measure waste in the process. Ensure efficiencies are driven to deliver year on year productivity and reduce hours per car
  • Select appropriate tools, jigs, and fixtures, including specialised hand tools, power tool, spraying and polishing requirements to meet vehicle launch mission, quality, and hours per car targets, whilst ensuring operator safety targets are achieved
  • Work with Engineering to ensure new or modified product content is integrated seamlessly into the production environment. Develop, Publish, and maintain Design Rules and documentation to support the design development of the Painted Body structure

THE PERSON:

  • Relevant previous experience of Paint Facility Process Management
  • Background either from an Automotive Manufacturer, or from a Tier one paint supplier
