Job description: Role Summary:Mitie Plan Zero Consulting is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Design Manager to join our team of experts in the development of low carbon solutions for commercial and industrial buildings. As the Principal Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading, developing and growing a team of engineers and project managers working on the development of mechanical and electrical designs up to RIBA stage 4 for low carbon solutions, with a particular focus on heat pumps. You will be responsible for ensuring clients always receive detailed designs that meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.You will work closely with the decarbonisation Consulting & Advisory teams, who are engaged with our private and public sector clients supporting them detail their carbon reduction roadmaps and strategies.You will be responsible for:Leading and delivering client engagements on detail design of low carbon engineering solutions. Reviewing tender documentation and identifying project risks, establishing project requirements and setting up project budgets, development of concept designs and setting key design deliverables and development of design programsYou will also be responsible for:Supporting Consulting Partners and Sales teams with originating and converting opportunities for detailed design of low carbon solutions across our client base and growing and developing a team of mechanical and electrical designers, providing mentoring and coaching to junior resourceWe are looking for someone with:
- Degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering discipline
- Extensive experience in engineering design, with a focus on low carbon solutions and M&E design.
- Proven experience in developing designs up to RIBA stage 4 for mechanical and electrical systems and energy modelling.
- Experience in designing and delivering heat pump solutions.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, IES Virtual Environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Direct experience of managing a team
- Experience of delivering a business budget / P&L
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of Building Regulations and design standards.
- High experience on Heat Pump design, installation and commission.
- Familiarity with the products of Heat Pump manufacturers.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent qualification is desirable.
