Job description: We are looking for an Agricultural Field Technician to join the SOYL team, based at Hermitage (near Newbury) on a fixed-term, full-time basis.

We are looking for an Agricultural Field Technician to support our satellite imagery service to growers. You will play a key role in collecting and gathering in-field data across Berkshire and Hampshire from January to May. Often working alone, you will be self-motivated, organised and you must be accustomed to working outside in all weather conditions. Full training will be provided.

About You

  • Proven attention to detail
  • Accustomed to working outside in all weather conditions
  • Good IT knowledge including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving license with access to own transport
  • Own a camera or mobile device capable of taking photographs
  • Strong communication skills

Your Role

As an Agricultural Field Technician your role will involve:

  • Measuring crops in-field
  • Taking photos of the crops throughout the growing season
  • Cutting and weighing the crops in the field
  • Using an electronic crop sensor to calculate Leaf Area Index (LAI)
  • Checking the same fields on a weekly basis
  • Collating, checking and uploading data at the end of each day
