We work to promote public confidence in the democratic process and to ensure its integrity.We offer excellent terms and conditions, including flexible working hours and the opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements (dependant on scheme rules).The RoleThis is an exciting newly created role working as part of the Financial Planning team. In this role you will lead and develop planning, forecasting and budgeting models which feed into an integrated group reporting suite. You will design, implement and execute financial planning including 5-year plans, annual budget process and regular reforecast cycles and develop and maintain high quality financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives.Other parts of the role entails assisting in the preparation of management reports, presentations, and ad-hoc analysis and developing both financial and non-financial performance indicators, highlighting trends and analysing variances to plan.Who we are looking forIdeally, you will be a qualified accountant with working experience in a finance function of a medium sized to large organisation including involvement at a decision-making level in a full planning round. Part qualified candidates maybe considered based on having relevant experience.Previous knowledge and experience working with Public Sector Spending rules and accounting principles would be desirable.Knowledge of investment appraisal techniques is key, ideally with some experience of applying the HM Treasury Green Book (desirable).You also need to have good interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with people at all levels as you have to build and maintain working relationships with key internal colleagues, other governmental departments (HMT, NAO, etc), and external bodies to ensure that internal controls, systems, processes and business practices at The Electoral Commission meet statutory, regulatory and auditing requirements.Furthermore, you will need to have:Strong organisational and problem-solving skillsProficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, with experience in budgeting and forecasting modelling.Effective communication skills, both written and oralExcellent numerical reasoning skills and attention to detailMore information on how to applyWe would like to continuously increase the diversity of our employees.
