About the Role

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer to design and deliver excellent education for students in the field of professional skills/ learning & development. These roles will predominately focus on students enrolled on our Science and Engineering Foundation Programmes.

Our Science and Engineering Degrees with Foundation Year are integrated four-year programmes of study. Successful completion of the foundation year enables students to continue (without further UCAS application) onto study for a BEng Honours degree in a branch of engineering or a BSc Honours degree in a branch of science or mathematics. The International Science and Engineering Foundation programme is a standalone one-year programme for overseas students which leads to a Level 3 qualification known as the Foundation Certificate or FdCert.

This role focuses on student education. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about ensuring that the education we provide results in successful progression.

You should be working towards or having completed a PhD in Humanities or Science, and / or relevant professional qualification and / or equivalent professional experience in fields aligned to professional skills / learning and development and be able to communicate new and complex information effectively to students, engaging their interest and enthusiasm. You are expected to understand student support needs and be able to provide guidance as necessary, signposting to specialist services where appropriate.

About the School

The School of Physical and Chemical Sciences consists of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry. It is one of five schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The School is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to over 530 undergraduate students, 70 postgraduate taught students, and 130 teaching and research staff. Our research is highly collaborative, working with colleagues across all three faculties and supported by partnerships with industry, NHS and other stakeholders.
