MetFilm School is one of the largest film schools in Europe, running undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across our London, Leeds and Berlin campuses as well as a portfolio of non-accredited courses. About the role:

As the Head of School, you will have a pivotal role in providing leadership within your specialist area of Film and supporting the Dean of Film in driving student success.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contributing to plans to improve student and graduate outcomes and overseeing their implementation at the campus level.
  • Collaborating with the Dean of Film to develop access and participation initiatives, induction plans, and international student experiences.
  • Leading the quality assurance of curriculum delivery, ensuring optimal teaching and assessment practices.
  • Enhancing the curriculum continuously and advocating for the subject area across the campus.
  • Ensuring teaching excellence through effective tutor recruitment and professional development.
  • Facilitating the sharing of best practices and resolving any teaching or curriculum delivery issues.
  • Managing performance and disciplinary matters, escalating when necessary.
  • Representing the subject area in governance platforms and participating in university committees.
  • Promoting student well-being and serving as the point of escalation for student concerns.
  • Participating in university processes to enhance the academic character of the institution.
  • Supporting marketing and recruitment efforts, including participation in open days.
  • Ensuring effective data collection, monitoring, and reporting on critical outcomes.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A Postgraduate Degree or equivalent qualifications/industry experience in the subject area.
  • A teaching qualification relevant to higher education or Fellowship of Advance HE.
  • Evidence of subject expertise and industry engagement.
  • Experience in leadership and management within higher education.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in curriculum development and teaching quality improvement.
  • Experience teaching in a higher education context.
  • Understanding of relevant compliance and regulatory issues in higher education.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
