Job Summary
As an Events Technician, you will work as part of a dynamic team of professionals providing frontline audio-visual support to internal and external contacts across Imperial’s campuses and venues, and online. Bringing your events industry experience and technical expertise to this multi-skilled role, you’ll help our Catering and Events Operations team to produce events that excite and inspire at a world-leading higher education institution.
As the successful candidate, you’ll ensure that physical and virtual events at Imperial run smoothly from a technical perspective, and that AV equipment is provided, set up and operated to fulfil the needs of clients on the day. You’ll manage and maintain Imperial’s stock of AV equipment, reporting faults in a timely manner, and work to continually improve the quality and utility of the portfolio in line with new technological innovations. You’ll manage, train and motivate teams of multi-skilled staff to make sure that the Catering and Events Operations team’s staff and technical resources are deployed effectively and efficiently.
What we are looking for:
- Experience of working in Events in an audio-visual capacity
- Operational knowledge of a one or all range of audio-visual hardware. (E.G. sound and lighting control infrastructure, data/video projection equipment etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build, develop and maintain good working relationships with staff at all levels
- Excellent organisation skills with the ability to identify and set priorities and work to deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
- Innovative and pro-active approach with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Someone who strives to deliver excellent customer service
- Flexible approach to working a 5/7 day per week arrangement, including evenings and weekends, and able to work at any Imperial location, as reasonably requested
