Job description: Job PurposeProvide comprehensive administrative, clerical support to the Pre-surgical Preparation team and Pre-assessment team.Work in a team-based service providing support for each other and ensuring continuity of the service.Retrieval of medical records/case notes and support integration to electronic records.Main duties of the jobo Work as the ward clerk in the reception areas to meet and greet patients.o Maintain accuracy and legibility of patient records in accordance with trust policy.o Request, collect, track and manage patient records appropriately for pre-surgical preparation service, ensuring an up to date record is maintained of all case notes locations and paperwork. All case notes dispatched to other departments or hospitals are entered onto hospital tracking system.o To file all patient information accurately in health records.o Book outpatient/pre-assessment appointmentso To confirm appointments with patients and, if a patient cancels or is unwell, and where possible, arrange for an alternative patient to be seen in order to maximises the use of clinic resources.o Answer the telephone in a courteous and timely manner.o Ensure accuracy in giving and receiving messages.o Other clerical duties such as photocopyingo To greet patients with a welcoming and informative approach.o Ensure all patients are treated in a kind and courteous manner.o Maintain patient confidentiality.o Recognise own limitations and seek advice when appropriate, identifying own learning needs to discuss with line manager / appraiser.o Participate in an annual appraisal with relevant reviews and to follow your personal development plan as agreed with your line manager.o Undertake all mandatory trainingo Participate in ward meetings and be involved in the decision-making process when changes take place.About usWe are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with fivehospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people.
