Professor of Science, Knowledge and Public Policy at University of Glasgow

Job Description

The School of Social & Political Science at the University of Glasgow is seeking to make a strategically important Professorial appointment in the Division of Urban Studies and Social Policy in the Subject Group of Social and Urban Policy.  We are keen to attract candidates with a strong track record of research on key contemporary concerns in relation to:

  • Interdisciplinary approaches to the relationship between knowledge production and policy-making
  • International organisations and global governance
  • Creative industries, public policy and civic engagement

The School of Social and Political Sciences has an expanding research programme in these key areas of thematic priority, which includes a range of projects and collaborations across the School and with other Schools, Colleges and institution. We play a leading role in the College of Social Science Interdisciplinary Research Themes on Global Health and Environment; Peaceful, Secure and Empowered Environments; and Political Economy Futures. Our overarching vision in the School is to address the major social and political challenges of our time.  We prioritise enrichment & empowerment for young people & disadvantaged communities; dialogue & mutual understanding across societies and cultures; international engagement & collaboration and recognising & responding to our legacies in how we work & study.

The successful candidate will play a senior leadership role in the School of Social & Political Sciences by conducting externally-funded internationally-leading social science research, delivering research-led education and demonstrating excellence in teaching to support the strategic objectives and priorities of the School/College in line with the University’s ambitions. They will have extensive experience of research leadership, impact and engagement with international networks and partners.
