Job description: This post is a key senior member of the PMO at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. The PMO is primarily focused on supporting and facilitating the successful and smooth delivery of the organisations efficiency programme.The postholder will be involved in every stage of the programme from the initial scoping exercise to agreeing the project resources to be deployed, including their roles and responsibilities, the launch of the scheme, governance arrangements and of course ensuring that it is delivered on time and to value. All of this to be consistent with and managed through the agreed PMO processes and procedures.Main duties of the jobThe Programme Manager will oversee and manage the work of one or more project managers as required, supporting a strategic shift in services across EKHUFT. The postholder will bring significant expertise and discipline relating to how the schemes should be structured and delivered to ensure a successful outcome and ensure that the identified and agreed milestones are delivered or flagged to the PMO Director where there is likely to be significant deviation. The Programme Manager will support and work alongside the scheme executive / senior manager sponsor to ensure successful delivery.The postholder is responsible for contributing to the Trust’s cost efficiency and savings plan.   • Project Management Qualifications such as Prince 2 or Managing Successful Projects or equivalent or other relevant experience.

  • Educated to Masters degree level, or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge gained thorough relevant education, training, and experience.

Skills and experienceEssential

  • Experience of leading change programmes in large/complex organisations.
  • Experience of leading a team in the development and implementation of large scale quality and cost improvement plans.
  • Project Management competencies, including well developed planning and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Highly developed communications and presentation skills. Able to present ideas and proposals effectively, including the ability to communicate effectively in writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis and with groups.

  • To have demonstrably strong influencing, negotiating and communications skills and the ability to listen and respond to the needs of a wide range of stakeholders
