Job description: An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our current service within General Surgery & Gastroenterology at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital. We are looking for a Band 5 nurse to join our team to support acutely unwell surgical patients. We specialise in surgical and orthopaedic care therefore some basic knowledge is recommended, however, not essential.Main duties of the jobTo provide clinical and professional skills and work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team. You will care for a variety of surgical and orthopaedic patients within the day and will be expected to be able to carry out nurse led assessments of your patients and recognise a deteriorating patient. Acuity can change hourly so it is important you are able to prioritise your work load effectively in order to keep yourselves and the patients safe.You will also be required to assist your patients getting ready for theatre if they are required to have surgery and be able to care for them prior to their operation.
