Much of the Ribble Valley is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The borough is made up of picturesque towns and villages and scenic countryside; it is also known as the food capital of the north.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated graduate to work as a trainee Environmental Health Officer with the view to progressing to be a qualified and CIEH registered Environmental Health Officer.
We are open to applications from candidates that are currently studying for their BSc (Hons) or MSc in Environmental Health and still require to attend college or University part time. We are able to accommodate one day qualification/study leave for the successful candidate to attend College or University to complete their qualification, however the other four days must be office based undertaking the job description advertised. The role is based Monday to Friday from Clitheroe Council Offices.
It is a condition of your employment that you obtain your BSc (Hons) or MSc in Environmental Health by September 2024.
You will work primarily in the food / health and safety team, but you will also be given the opportunity to work in other areas such as pollution and housing.
You will be dealing with retail and commercial premises, covering business advice, food hygiene inspections, infectious disease control, investigation of food complaints, animal licencing and health and safety inspections/investigations.
Good IT skills, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as well as a flexible approach to working hours are also essential.
