Job description: We are looking for a Financial Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team based out of our Wolverhampton office. As Financial Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in delivering high quality financial reporting and executing core accounting processes. You’ll be a key player in ensuring compliance with he group’s policies and control framework.

What you will be doing
In this role, you will deliver high-quality financial reporting and the daily execution of a varied range of core accounting processes, ensuring the compliance with the Group’s policies and control framework.
Your responsibilities will include…
- Lead the execution of accurate and timely completion of the Segments month end reporting process, meeting the Group’s WD 7 close deadline. Coordinate the processing of accounting journals across the team including processing and/or review of journals across a diverse range of commercial activities within a multi-company group structure and prioritising own responsibilities to deliver excellent financial support to the business.
- Prepare in the Segment’s technical accounting requirements for securitisation transactions, understanding the interaction between the bank, the securitisation vehicle and consolidation business units. Escalate accounting discrepancies to the Group’s securitisation team and assist with queries from the Securitisation trustees.
- Involvement in technical accounting within the segment such as lease accounting journals, developing knowledge of IFRS 16, EIR and FV accounting under IFRS 9 and share based payment accounting under IFRS 2.
- Prepare monthly analytical reviews and the month end financial reports for senior manager review and approval, demonstrating ownership of follow-ups and seeing them through to completion.
- Completion of the Segment’s balance sheet substantiation process in Blackline, also organising a direct report to meet the Group’s WD 10 deadline. Ensure the Segment’s reconciliations are prepared in accordance with the Group’s policy, assisting the Financial Control Manager with monthly sample-based testing. Involvement in managing the Segment’s unreconciled differences, driving change to ensure timely resolution.

Could you be the one?
We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:
- Previous experience working as a Finance Manager in a similar environment is desirable
- Post qualification experience in a similar role is essential
- Previous experience of Financial Control is essential
- Previous line management experience is essential
- Previous experience of working within a financial services or risk based environment is essential
- Previous experience of implementing process improvement projects and establishing good working controls is essential
- Up to date knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS is essential, with detailed knowledge of IFRS 2 and 9 an advantage
- Advanced knowledge of financial control processes is essential
- Advanced knowledge of accounting systems is essential
- Basic knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley control principles is desirable
- Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is essential
- A confident user of general ledger systems and posting journals is essential
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Excel including formula and pivot tables is essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to Interact with people at all levels in an organisation is essential
- Excellent organisational skills are essential
