This Head of Pension Scheme Accounting is a newly created role and will hold responsibility for all accounting related to this impressive organisations various pension schemes. You will report into the Assistant Director of Financial Accounting and will manage one Pension Scheme Accountant.

Duties for this role will include:

• Establish and maintain excellent relationships with the pensions board and management team ensuring sound advice is provided to enable the five-year strategic plan to stay on track.
• Ensure compliance with all necessary legislation, keeping up to date with the latest requirements.
• Oversee year-end and work to improve and develop processes to create an efficient timetable.
• Hold responsibility for the balance sheet ensuring it is well managed.
• Carry out analysis of major variances highlighting trends or potential misstatements.
• Review statutory trial balances and manage the external audit.
• Partner with the pension investment team, presenting key information at quarterly meetings.
• Manage the Pension Scheme Accountant providing relevant coaching and offering development opportunities.

This position will join a team on a journey of transformation and will play a vital part in this charity reaching its full potential. Based at the central London head office you will be required to work in the office twice a week.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a fully qualified Accountant.
• Have proven experience in pension accounting.
• Be an excellent communicator.
• Have the ability to analyse and manipulate highly complex data.

Expected salary: £70000 – 75500 per year
