Commercial & Litigation focus

This is a newly created and highly visible role within a high growth organisation.

You will work with experienced lawyers across a breadth of work.

They are particularly keen to find a junior lawyer with a litigation background.

This is not an in house litigation focused role but will incorporate elements of litigation for which they would like to find the right approach to the myriad of commercial challenges across the organisation.

They are keen to develop and mentor a lawyer who has a passion for wanting to move in house under the guidance of experienced hands.

The role provides a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and expanding Legal and Compliance department, responsible for offering strategic and commercial legal advice to all parts of the business, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts, advising on a range of legal and regulatory queries and being strategically involved in new projects with the opportunity to carve out a significant profile.

Reporting to the Head of Legal, the successful candidate will be a key part of a Legal and Compliance department which works closely with its internal stakeholders and highly regarded as trusted advisors and business partners to the teams they support.

This is a broad commercial role and is suited to a candidate who enjoys responsibility, building strong internal relationships and working with a wide range of stakeholders in a fast paced and agile business.

The successful candidate will need to have a learner mindset and be comfortable managing a hugely diverse portfolio of legal work whilst influencing colleagues and counterparts to deliver

As Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in helping the team to deliver timely, high quality and commercially astute advice on all aspects of the business. You will be required to advise on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues affecting all areas of the business ranging from reviewing marketing campaigns for regulatory compliance to drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including NDAs, services agreements, SAAS, professional services and marketing agreements.

You’ll work closely and collaboratively with supplier management and commercial teams to ensure that contractual negotiations and agreements are aligned to the company’s strategic and legal objectives.

You’ll also be responsible for effectively managing litigation matters and disputes, including customer rights issues as they arise, liaising with external lawyers and external advisers as required and to provide proactive strategic advice and guidance.

You will additionally be supporting the business on data protection related matters as well as developing and implementing robust compliance and risk management across the business

Knowledge & Skills

To succeed in this role you will need to have a solid, relevant background as a qualified high calibre solicitor with post qualification experience.

A Private Practice or In House background with previous in-house and litigation experience would be advantageous.

Our ideal range is 0-3 pqe for this position although we will consider other levels of qualification for the right candidate.

The role is hybrid and will require 2-3 office days per week.
