Scotland – hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future. This is a national role with travel throughout Scotland required.

Visible, active clinical and professional engagement is central to the success of our work and will support the delivery of clinically effective care to people and their families.

Our Primary Care Improvement Portfolio is seeking a national clinical nursing lead who will provide subject and improvement expertise, professional and clinical advice, governance and leadership to inform the content and aims of our work. This role will involve working with key national partners and senior leadership teams in NHS boards and Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs).

This role will provide clinical and professional nursing guidance, governance and support for a new commission, the Primary Care Phased Investment Programme. This programme aims to:

  • improve implementation of the General Medical Services (GMS) contract with a focus on pharmacotherapy and community treatment and care (CTAC) services
  • develop a culture of continual improvement across primary care settings, and
  • build evidence to understand the national context for implementation.

Candidates must hold current active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have recent experience of working in a senior leadership role in a community health and care setting. The ideal candidate will be working at band level 8 or above, managing complex portfolios of work and contributing to local strategic planning. Extensive knowledge of and recent experience in developing and implementing improvements and service redesign in a primary care or community nursing setting is also essential. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be fundamental to success in this role, as well as the ability to build upon current professional and clinical networks. In addition, candidates will have experience and knowledge of Scottish health and social care systems, structures, and policy, including initiatives in CTAC services.
