Job description: Great chance for an Infrastructure Engineer to join a nationally recognised construction company who have created some of the most Iconic buildings in the UK.

You will work in an established IT team of 15 with a great management function and will be responsible for helping to design, implement and maintain the organisation’s IT infrastructure.

In this varied role you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network operations, server administration, storage management and more.

Role/Responsibilities
Design, plan, and implement IT infrastructure solutions that align with the organisation’s requirements and objectives. This includes network architecture, server deployments, storage systems, and virtualisation technologies.
Manage and support the organisation’s network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points. Ensure network availability, performance, and security by monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimising network configurations.
Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security. Perform regular server updates, patch management, and system monitoring to ensure reliable server operations.
Oversee the organisation’s storage infrastructure, including SAN, NAS, and backup systems. Monitor storage capacity, optimise performance, and implement data backup and recovery strategies.
Deploy and manage virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V to optimize server utilisation and resource allocation. Collaborate with cloud service providers to leverage cloud computing resources effectively.
Help implement and maintain security measures and protocols to protect the organisation’s IT infrastructure. Conduct vulnerability assessments, apply security patches (utilising change control practices) and enforce compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, VCP) are highly desirable.

Proven experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer or similar role, with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT infrastructure solutions.
Solid understanding of network protocols, architectures, and security principles.
Proficiency in server administration, including Windows Server and Linux environments.
Experience with storage systems, backup solutions, and disaster recovery planning.
Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
