Job description

My client is currently looking for a Paraplanner in Stoke on Trent.

Role Summary:

  • To support the business by providing a mixture of paraplanning and report writing, where required

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write detailed client letters/reports, both from templates and bespoke, within agreed timescales, compliance requirements, and quality standards
  • Write client review letters (including portfolio review), including drawdown reviews
  • To work as an effective member of the financial planning team, liaising with financial planners, paraplanners, and administration team to help facilitate smooth new business processing and help answer any technical client queries, where required
  • Portfolio analysis and rebalancing
  • Complete Fund/Product/Provider research and due diligence, including portfolio construction, as required (using FE Analytics & Centra)
  • Produce pension switch comparisons (using O&M)
  • Collate appropriate data and complete calculations (e.g. annual allowance, bond chargeable gains, income tax, inheritance tax etc)
  • Help maintain and develop letter / report templates
  • Assist with compiling compliance information for external new business file checkers, where required
  • Maintain up to date knowledge (CPD) required to complete the role
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks requested of you, such as assisting the administration team with client valuations, meeting preparation, new business processing etc, during busy times or to cover sickness/absence

Knowledge/Experience required:

  • Must have previous experience of providing support in a busy IFA or Wealth Management Company
  • Ability to constructively challenge advisers and fellow paraplanners to help improve client outcomes and advice standards
  • Formal qualifications are not essential. CII Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent, or working towards, is desirable
  • Well-developed organisational and administrative skills with the ability to handle a busy, varied workload and to cope with interruptions and changes
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, meet set deadlines and pay meticulous attention to detail completing tasks fully, accurately and on time, prioritising where appropriate
  • Ability to deal with confidential information or situations in an appropriate and sensitive manner Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of written and verbal formats, including telephone, email and in person with a wide range of people
  • Basic IT skills including; Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Email and Web
  • Have the ability to be resourceful and able to research, gather and distribute information as necessary
  • Willingness to help and support colleagues, thinking beyond the task being given
