Job title: SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL, SOLAR ENERGY. c.3-8 YRS’ PQE, REMOTE ROLE

Company: Kinsella Legal

Job description: SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL
ENGINEERING/PROJECTS/CONSTRUCTION
c. 3-8 YRS’ PQE
WORLD LEADING SOLAR ENERGY COMPANY
FLEXIBLE/REMOTE WORKING

We are delighted to work with this leading EPC service provider in the development, construction and operation of solar power plants worldwide. It’s a purpose-led business focussed on sustainability and climate neutrality, with the goal to advance the European energy transition and guarantee a clean energy supply for future generations.

The Role
This is a new position reporting to the International General Counsel (based in the UK). The succesful candidate will draft, manage and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts for the development and realisation of solar and battery energy projects, such as EPC and O&M contracts, option and lease agreements, supply, sub-contractor, purchase and confidentiality agreements, equipment purchase and construction contracts, operation and maintenance agreements, as well as real estate matters, interconnection, power purchase and energy hedging arrangements. A lot of the work will be bespoke.

You will support Directors during the contract stage and taking leadership during negotiations, highlighting and leading initiatives to minimize risk.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for a talented engineering, projects or construction lawyer, qualified in England & Wales and with a strong academic and legal training record. Around 5 years’ PQE is a guide, and we are keen to speak with lawyers either side of this who are confident, can operate autonomously and are happy with remote working.

You might have moved in-house already or still be in private practice, either way you will have a client and solutions focused and business minded approach. You must have excellent knowledge of contract forms including FIDIC in particular, as well as NEC, JCT and bespoke forms of contract and be familiar with all aspects of project development and financing. Experience in the field of alternative energy and distributed power sources (such as solar, energy storage, wind, geothermal, biofuels and hydroelectricity) will be helpful but is not required.

This business is incredibly proud of its collaborative and positive culture, which is supportive, encouraging and does not value “politics”! It is a solutions-focussed culture and the company enjoys fantastic employee retention and loyalty. The working hours will be very reasonable and though this is a full time role you will have full freedom to manage your own workload.

If you are keen to join a forward-thinking, purpose-led, fast growing business, with interesting work and flexible/remote working then please apply ASAP!
