Job title: Logistics Manager

Job description: Logistics Manager required for a new manufacturing facility in Derby supplying to the construction industry.

This role is about Logistical ownership, Team Leadership and management, training, mentoring.

As their new Logistics Manager you will:

  • Provide leadership and support to the logistics team.
  • Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders; procurement team, production team, transportation companies and customers.
  • Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers.
  • Assess and make recommendations for logistics processes in the new facility and advise of cost implications and efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory and system records are in agreement.
  • Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process as part of continuous improvement.

To be successful you will need:

  • High degree of knowledge and understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and components and of production supply management.
  • Strong IT systems knowledge and understanding of specialist systems such as Planning (ERP), Bill of Material (BOM).
  • 5 Plus years’ experience in Logistics Management.
  • Have further qualifications , ie ILM certificate in management or equivalent
  • IOSH or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software
  • Commercial and financial acumen with a full understanding of the impact of failure in terms of business cost, production schedules and customer order fulfilment.
  • Good understanding of production flow and line feeding.
  • Current driving licence and be able to travel to sites/meetings, if required.
