Why this job is important
The Project Technical Accountant is responsible for providing subject matter expertise support on multi-disciplinary finance projects.
What you’ll be doing
- Project manage the technical accounting / group reporting workstream for various projects including acquisitions and disposals.
- Prepare technical accounting papers for management and the auditors on the transactions, that document issues in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner including journal entries and financial statement disclosures.
- Preparation and presentation of accounting and financial reports to the audit committee
- Supporting the consolidation and external reporting requirements of the Kantar Group, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company law and walker guidelines.
- Liaise with the audit team and advisors on scope, deliverables and timing.
- Assist in financial due diligence, preparation of closing and opening balance sheets, purchase accounting, transaction cost tracking, post-close account and purchase price adjustment for acquisitions.
- Support accounting integration including systems, policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Manage and ensure compliance with internal review control for accounting transactions and perform the necessary procedures and documentation.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures and systems for relevant accounting and reporting, ensuring accurate MI.
- Provide high quality and practical training and education for finance and non-finance colleagues
- Lead and perform key technical accounting research including keeping up to date with changes in IFRS, IFRIC, FRC guidance, Walker guidelines, ESMA, audit reform etc. Perform impact assessment, prepare technical accounting guidance and lead implementation programme for these changes.
- Identify process improvements and assist in the implementation of related processes and controls.
- Assist with other ad hoc Group Finance related tasks and projects as required.
- Build relationships across multiple teams within Kantar to foster a collaborative and productive working relationship.
The skills & experience needed as Project Technical Accountant
- The ideal candidate will be an experienced qualified accountant with proven ability to analyse complex financial information and translate it into meaningful insights with strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering improvements.
- Audit and technical advisory training and industry exposure would be desirable.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong technical knowledge and experience of practical application of accounting standards, in particular, IFRS 13, IAS 38, IFRS 3, IFRS 10, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
- Excellent communication skills written reports and presentations are essential. You will be working with Senior Leadership Teams, Boards, and external stakeholders, explaining results and options for decision-making with clarity and focus.
- Strong ability to evaluate technical issues, research and analyse facts, ability to influence and deal with senior individuals, consult and deliver solutions to clients.
- Comfortable managing key relationships with external finance parties and service providers.
- Experience with capital market transactions and ‘carve-outs’ preferable
- You should enjoy working at pace with high achieving individuals and teams.
