Individual with a strong understanding of an asset management business end to end, specifically the key capabilities, processes, systems and data used to support the investment business. The individual will be an experienced business analyst that can support the definition of operating model design for new business requirements and capabilities that are required to be supported on our investment platform. You will be able to work with ambiguity and apply appropriate frameworks to structure and solve problems.

About the team

The Investment Services Platform Team (ISPT) is a central team within Operations, reporting to the Global Head of Investment Services with a global remit. The team provides support to the Investment, Dealing and Operations functions in Schroders Asset Management Business and works with teams across Schroders to implement change initiated from the three functions. The team aims to enable business growth, support business as usual, make operating model improvements, manage risk and simplify business processes.

What you’ll do

  • Act as a trusted advisor, liaising with investment and operations stakeholders to define their goals and outcomes through applying analytical frameworks
  • Collaborate across global cross-functional teams, Global Technology and third party platform provider(s) to review existing capabilities and design solutions options detailing platforms, processes, data and organisation design
  • Work in partnership with Technology teams to define and deliver functionality outside Aladdin where specific requirements / services levels cannot be met by Aladdin
  • Partner with third party platform provider(s) to maximise value from the platform and influence new platform capabilities required to meet requirements
  • Participate in project initiatives ensuring that changes to the Investment platform and associated business processes are carefully understood and implemented.
  • Drive scalability and efficiency improvements, reducing cost and complexity in the operating model
  • Focus on data quality – ensure processes are aligned to maintain appropriate standard
  • Reduce operational risk by leveraging usage of Aladdin platform

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Good understanding the core capabilities and processes that underpin a global asset management business (Portfolio Construction and modelling, Order Management, Trade Execution, Compliance, Risk, and Performance)
  • Good understanding of multiple asset classes (including ETD and OTC derivatives, Loans, Private Assets, etc.)
  • Experience of platforms / system functionality that support the core asset management capabilities used by Investment teams
  • Demonstrable Business Analysis skills with ability to define and document business requirements to a high standard. Experience with the appropriate methods and tools (i.e., BPML/UML hosting workshops, process flows, Visio).
  • Confidence to engage in discussions with colleagues across the investment, operations, change and technology functions. It is important to be able to challenge and direct discussions as part of this.
  • Problem solving ability within a complex environment.
  • Ability to negotiate pragmatic solutions that meet conflicting business requirements.
  • Good technical knowledge and ability to translate between IT and the business.
  • Awareness of full project life cycle including defining user requirements, defining test scenarios and user acceptance testing.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

  • Experience working in an asset manager or similar organisation, with experience working directly with Investment teams
  • Experience working with external vendors / third party suppliers also beneficial.
  • Experience of BlackRock Aladdin platform or similar
