Job description: Warehouse Team Lead – Whisky Industry – Glasgow

PURPOSE: We are seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Team Leader to manage our multi-use warehouse operation in Glasgow. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of the receipt, dispatch, and efficient storage of Dry, Finished, and Cask stocks. As a Warehouse Team Leader, you will work closely with the Head of Operations and a small Production Team, ensuring smooth administrative functions, managing cyclical stock counts, and developing a small team of Warehouse Operators.

What the day to day could look like:

• Oversee receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations.
• Implement operational policies and procedures.
• Accurately record stock locations and movements using bar-code scanning technology.
• Assist with deliveries, receiving, and stowing all stock types efficiently in line with operational policies.
• Maintain documentation and accurate records of all stock movements and warehouse activities, including statistical and financial records.
• Remove, prepare, and transfer dry materials to line-side locations for production.
• Inspect finished products post-production and transfer to stock or dispatch locations.
• Process orders for picking, packing, and dispatch of Finished Goods.
• Liaise with transport companies, suppliers, and customers when required.
• Maintain accurate cask stock records and carry out manual cask movements when required.
• Ensure safety guidelines are always followed.
• Operate forklift and material handling equipment safely, as necessary.
• Routinely communicate with the Production Team Leader to gain directives, discuss decisions, and action plans, and share information.
• Participate in the company’s appraisal process, supervise, and train warehouse team members.
• Build effective and trusting relationships with other Departments and Teams across the business.
• Any other activities deemed necessary to improve the performance of the department.

Are you who we’re looking for?

• 5+ years of warehouse Supervisory experience.
• Excellent understanding of warehouse management procedures, inventory, and inventory controls.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to operate forklift safely and effectively.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong people, leadership, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Available to work extended hours on occasion.
