Job Duties:

The Food Technology Teacher will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons in Food Technology to students.
  • Teaching students various aspects of food preparation, cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
  • Developing and implementing effective teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Assessing and evaluating students’ progress through assignments, tests, and examinations.
  • Providing constructive feedback and guidance to students to support their academic and personal development.
  • Maintaining accurate records of students’ attendance, achievements, and behaviour.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and enhance the Food Technology curriculum.
  • Participating in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Required Qualifications:

  • A valid teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or QTS, specialising in Food Technology.
  • Proven experience in teaching Food Technology at the secondary school level.
  • Excellent knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum requirements for Food Technology.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology or a related field is required.

Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in Food Technology at the secondary school level.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
  • Familiarity with the use of kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology for teaching purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Additional certifications or training in Food Technology.
  • Experience in designing and implementing practical cooking sessions.
  • Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Working Conditions:

The Food Technology Teacher will work in a secondary school setting, delivering lessons in a classroom and practical cooking sessions in a well-equipped kitchen. The role involves working full-time hours on a contract basis. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues and interact with students, parents, and school staff on a daily basis. The working environment will be dynamic and may require occasional additional hours for lesson planning, assessment, and participation in extracurricular activities.

Expected salary: £46001 per year
