Job description: We’re looking for a retail food safety manager to join our supply chain operations team. We’ll look to you to drive the food safety, quality & regulatory strategy in the UK and providing subject matter expertise and implementation support for retail food safety, store cleanliness and store conditions standards.

Our retail food safety manager plays a key role in supporting our stores in all elements including audit programs and pest control programs. It will be a strategic role to make sure that we have the right policies in place and look for continuous improvements across our food safety program, as well as working in the moment to provide immediate support for our retail support teams as it is needed.

Ideally, you’ll have previous experience of working in a retail environment and have a food safety recognised qualification. This role will work hand in hand with our retail operations team, so your experience in understanding a multi-site model is essential to this role. We’re looking for someone who also has previous experience within a food auditing and/or enforcement role with knowledge of HACCP principles. You’ll have strong influencing and consulting skills working with cross functional teams, be creative and be able to anticipate the required support needed for our stores.

As our retail food safety manager for the UK, a typical week will could include:

  • Developing, implementing, and tracking the effectiveness of food safety & quality programs including standards, procedures and tools to make sure that food safety and hygiene requirements are met for store operations
  • Supporting partners at all levels with appropriate awareness and knowledge of food safety standards, requirements, program updates and process changes
  • Analysing food safety & quality metrics, audit data, customer and regulator feedback. Highlighting trends and potential opportunities for the food safety, quality & regulatory team
  • Coaching and supporting the operational teams on food safety related queries and issues for all relevant projects
  • Managing all food safety related complaints, making sure they are fully investigated, tracked and resolved on a timely basis
  • Developing effective relationships with enforcement officers
  • Developing and delivering training programmes for retail stores and other partners as necessary
  • Working on business change projects, including the development and publication of food safety standards and new retail processes to support brand innovation
