We are now looking for a Senior Lecturer Hospitality & Tourism Management to join our team on a full time, Permanent basis working 37 hours per week.

THE ROLE

You will be under the line management of the Academic Director and will be expected to take operational direction of a specified undergraduate programme within the Hospitality & Tourism Management discipline area. In this capacity, you will be responsible for the teaching, assessment, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the programme, including offering academic leadership, support and guidance to a number of staff. You will also have responsibility for the enhancement of the student experience and ensuring the programme operates within a QA framework and in line with University policies and procedures. You will offer teaching and instruction up to and including undergraduate supervision (Level 6). You will be expected to undertake scholarship, research, training and/or project work, individually or as part of a network, and will actively seek out funding opportunities, knowledge transfer, external engagement and collaboration, and professional recognition. You will hold a significant leadership role within the Academic Discipline and make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Academic Discipline and Institute. ABOUT YOU

To be considered as a Senior Lecturer Hospitality & Tourism Management, you will need:

  • An undergraduate degree which relates to the discipline subject areas.
  • A Master’s degree related to the discipline subject areas.
  • A teaching qualification.
  • Relevant professional experience within the programmes potential employment sector.
  • Demonstrable experience of level leadership either existing or previously (recent) up to Programme Management.
  • Evidence of the design, development and implementation of curriculum content across a range of modules or programmes of study including experience of developing and delivering modules at levels 4,5, and 6 including within an online context.
  • Evidence of undertaking a significant administrative role or position within an Academic Discipline, Institute or University which includes experience of academic programme validation and revalidation review.
  • Ability to support a diverse community of students learning at a distance, and face to face, including experience of working with mature learners from a variety of professional fields.
  • Broad experience in delivering via innovative teaching methods, assessment and student support at undergraduate level, with a willingness to teach on campus (or other locations) by video-link, VLE, e-mail or MS Teams delivery.
  • Demonstrate up to date subject knowledge in the discipline and having an active research area relevant to the discipline.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to leading a team and fostering an effective team ethos.

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Senior Fellowship of the HEA
  • Programme Management of an online programme.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership at one or more levels of study at undergraduate level within the discipline specialism.
  • Experience of working with a network of organisations and individuals especially related to student placement opportunities.
  • Evidence of commitment to exploring external funding opportunities, awards or grants or possible commercial opportunities
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh.
