About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Officer – Community and Creative Events to lead on the development and delivery of the events framework for Salford City Council (SCC). This includes working on key projects across the City – including green, blue and urban public spaces. You will also support the delivery of civic events, such as Remembrance Day.

Reporting to the Culture Programs Manager and supporting the Salford Culture Place Partnership (SCPP), you will work closely with team members, partners and stakeholders, and lead on Salford City Council’s commitment to democratise the City’s public realm – opening up parks, streets, and public places for events to be hosted, communities to celebrate, and artists to utilise. In addition to working with communities and artists, the role will require you to work closely with Salford City Council’s Place Directorate, Communications and Safety teams.

The role requires strong operational, administrative, creative and advocacy skills – with the ability to work with a range of people. It requires the ability to translate artist ambition into operational success across different sites and locations.

About You

The ideal candidate will be organised, diplomatic and creative. You will be a motivated self-starter that can confidently manage an exciting and varied workload incorporating multiple projects within a wider work. You will be a collaborator, committed to building effective working relationships with stakeholders, including: communities, artists, practitioners, council officers, Councillors and heritage organisations.

Salford City Council (SCC) is in an exciting phase of cultural development and has ambitious plans in place. The City’s aims include: making Salford one of the easiest places in the world to put on events and activities; and ensuring ambitious regional and nationally facing events programmes are delivered. Your help will support us to achieve these ambitions.

Whilst this role will be based at SCC, you will work closely with partner organisations across the City.

About your benefits

You will be welcomed into a friendly environment where your personal and professional development will be encouraged. You will have the opportunity to work and grow in a people-centred and values-based organisation that promotes a positive permission culture. Your opinions matter so you will have the opportunity to shape how we do things through our Salford 100 employee group and our employee led redesign approach. Your work-life balance and wellbeing are important to us so you will have access to a range of benefits including flexible working, green travel scheme, pension scheme, salary sacrifice schemes, a range of health and wellbeing options to suit your needs.
