Grafton Banks Finance is looking for a competent and credible Financial Controller to join a growing SME business in West Sussex, offering a friendly and cohesive culture, as well as 1-2 days working from home after the intial settling in period. This role reports to the Finance Director and would suit either a Financial Controller, or an experienced Finance Manager with managerial experience ready to step up.

The main purposes of the role is to ensure that accounting records of the firm are kept in accordance with accounting standards, support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes, preparing the annual budget, monthly statements and other financial reports. In addition, this person will develop financial processes and controls and support on finance system implementation.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all the financial aspects of the Company’s business.
  • This involves analysing financial performance including forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management.
  • Prepare and present the annual budget and financial forecasting for review and report on variances
  • Preparing, analysing and publishing all monthly financial statements
  • Creating reports which identifies results, trends and forecasts and enable decision making
  • Responsibility for a small finance team.
  • Support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes
  • Helping the Finance Director in presenting reports to board members, senior executives, and board members

The successful candidate:

  • A Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 5 years+ post qualified experience
  • Its essential you have experience implementing a whole new finance system for a business, along with setting up new proceedures and training.
  • Experience supervising a small team, with the ability to step into the detail as well as being able to step back.
  • Services sector experience is very helpful.
  • Able to demonstrate strong core technical accounting knowledge
  • Possess strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Advanced Excel, Powerpoint and Word
