Department Overview
OpenLink is a third-party application used to provide trade capture, risk monitoring, settlement, and accounting solutions across our financial market operations. It is a critical system with over two hundred users across MBPR, Finance and Risk and is integral to delivering critical business functions. It is supported by teams within the newly formed Strategic Change & Operations (SCO) directorate in MBPR and Financial Systems Solutions in Technology.
We are currently preparing to upgrade OpenLink and its accompanying hardware. This will be delivered via a project and, post-upgrade, the intention is to form a product team and continue delivering enhancements and functionality. This is a new role that will ultimately develop and deliver the OpenLink testing framework.
Role Description
We are looking for 2 Test Analysts on the UAT Services Team within SCO Change Delivery. The team is responsible for the co-ordination and execution of user acceptance testing for system change across MBPR. The primary focus of this role will be to perform high quality, robust testing of changes developed for the OpenLink system. This role offers will great exposure to the Operational Business teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in working hands on with system change. Tasks include reviewing business user’s system needs, crafting test to endure those needs are met, performing testing, identifying and re-testing any defects. Along with supporting the Test Lead with the daily reporting to stakeholders.
Within the role, you will be responsible for tasks including:
- Engage with business stakeholders especially around more complex changes, to understand the requirements and have the ability to extract key information from documents, identify gaps and seek out the answers to questions with business areas will be important.
- Review and analyse requirements documentation to identify scope, produce estimates, produce test conditions and scripts and circulate to stakeholders for sign-off.
- Performing user acceptance testing in OpenLink and sending test evidence to business users for approval.
- Raising, recording and tracking defects through to resolution and helping to identify their impacts on planned testing.
- Producing test progress reports for business users and raising potential delays early to the Test Lead

- Effective organisation and time management skills

- A genuine interest in system change and user acceptance testing to help drive the ‘why’s’ of what you’re doing rather than just the ‘what’ and ‘how’
- Good IT skills with the ability to learn and understand the OpenLink system
- A proactive approach to work, seeking answers to questions and filling knowledge gaps to help optimise your performance and contribution to the team.
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences
- A team player, willing to help others to achieve results with the ability to work on your own initiative
Desirable Criteria
- An understanding of or experience in user acceptance testing.
- An understanding of how OpenLink operates at high level, either from a business, policy or technical point of view
- Able to identify and implement new processes or update current processes to be more efficient

Salary and Benefits Information
This specific role offers a base salary of circa £32,000 – £36,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) on a full-time basis. We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
- A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
- A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
- A 7% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits. (Note that from April 2023 and for the Benefits year 2023/24, this will increase to 8%)
- 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
- Private medical insurance and income protection.
