Based at our Luton manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed, Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 400+ employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, canteen, vending machines and showers.

We are looking to appoint a Logistics Specialists to be based at our Luton site supporting both our Defence and Civil business lines whilst reporting to the Site Logistics Manager. The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for working within the Logistics Import team to ensure the department meets business requirements and sales targets whilst working closely with other Supply Chain functions using various business systems such as SAP and ACCESS database. This is a full-time position and operational hours at our Luton site are: 07:30 – 16:30 Monday to Thursday & 07:30 – 12:30 Friday.

Job Responsibilities

  • Validate import paperwork to complete clearance instructions
  • Obtain import documents to meet business/HMRC regulations
  • Complete HMRC amendments as required
  • Maintain import database records
  • Process Inward Processing (IP) internal records
  • Arrange international shipments
  • Process customer returns
  • Complete export documentation in ERP system to meet the customers PO requirements
  • Validate export licence requirements
  • Obtain post export documentation to meet business/HMRC regulations
  • Book transport and maintain a relationship with couriers/freight forwarders

How You’ll Contribute

Essential:

  • Import and shipping processing experience
  • Experience of arranging transport for collection
  • Experience of HMRC processes and regulations
  • Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Office

Desirable:

  • Inward processing experience
  • SAP experience
  • DHL or FEDEX experience
  • Experience of inventory management
  • Logistics experience gained from a manufacturing environment
  • Export licensing experience
